RANT: you know what has been bothering me recently is the signifigant rise in privatization of myspace pages. Why would you join a public networking site and then be all seclusive? So the main three excuses for this are:
A) "Well I only use Myspace to keep in touch with my REAL friends."
OR
B) "I had someone Stalking me"
And
C) "I don't want a bunch of creeps like you jerking off to a picture of me.
SO here's what I have to say.
A) Sure this is a relatively valid excuse except why do you need to privatize the page you don't have to except requests from people or buisnesses you don't know. What if your real friends can't tell that it is you in the picture then you can't stay connected. You can put up any information you want and keep off any you don't want. It just seems extreme.
B) This is a slightly more valid excuse than the first one but contains a more serious flaw...YOU CAN BLOCK ANY USER FROM YOUR PAGE. Sure I suppose they can get new accounts but if someone is that crazy shouldn't you have a restraining order anyway?
C)Why are you putting up all those sexy pix of your self then? How do you know your friends list is safe? How do you trust anyone?
So My point is that making your page private totally takes the fun out of myspace. It used to be really fun to just surf through people you don't know, laugh at their deformities/bad grammer, Marvel at others differences, or pause in awe (or get horny) at a persons beauty.
Now I will admit I had my page private for a little while because I thought some one was stalking me... but then I realized... WHO CARES!?! My Phone # and Address are easier to get with google than to understand anything of importance from what I have on my myspace site. People can stalk you a million other ways than than on you profile. Anyways even if said individual is still checking my page (or my blog) What the fuck do I care? Their waste of time not mine. So for those of you who have private pages I pose this question:WHY? And to those of you who keep your pages public KUDOS as the myspace blogs would say.
Also Stop lying about your age. And if you are on myspace for dating don't post only misleading photos, we wanna know what you look like not how hot you can make your face and boobs LOOK.
